
MAHLER ALOYSIUS F., Sr. Age 91, formerly of Regent Square, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 11, 2015, at his home in Apex, NC. He was born May 5, 1924, in Pittsburgh, son of the late William and Agnes (Everett) Mahler. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Dr. Margaret Peggy (Dina) Mahler; his son, AI Mahler, Jr.; and his brother, William Mahler, Jr. AI was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather who will be dearly missed. He is survived by his four children, Tom (Barbara) Mahler of Zelienople, Tim (Judy) Mahler of Export, Stephen (Donna) Mahler of Swissvale and Mary Beth Mahler of Apex, NC; loving grandfather of Jason (Jennifer) Mahler, Courtney (Deren) Winn, Julie (Steve) Clemens, Matthew Mahler, Kristen (Nate) Zawoyski, Joseph (Heather) Schlanger, Stephen (Maya) Mahler, Brandon (Emily) Mahler, Ian (Rebekah) Mahler; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. AI was a World War II Army veteran serving in France, Germany and the Philippines. He was a Duquesne University Law School graduate and practiced in Pittsburgh for 38 years with the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Railroad and with the law firm of Sharlock, Repcheck, Engel and Mahler. AI and Peggy retired to Apex, NC in 1991. They enjoyed travelling the world together. AI especially loved his trips to Ireland. He enjoyed golfing and visiting with family, friends and Army buddies. AI was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Duquesne Dukes. Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. Friday at THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7441 Washington Ave., Swissvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 11 a.m. at St. Anselm Church, Swissvale, Word of God Parish. Everyone is requested to please meet at the church Saturday morning. Al will be laid to rest with Military Honors in All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery in Braddock Hills.
