SELEPEC GEORGE L. “PIDGE” Of Turtle Creek, age 95, on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Beloved brother of Rose Smith of Forest Hills. Preceded in death by his brothers, Michael, John, William and Donald Selepec; and his sisters, Margaret Berry, Mary McCue, Catherine Selepec, Flo Dinda and Betty Kracsun. George is also survived by many nieces and nephews. George was a World War II Army veteran and a recipient of a Purple Heart which he earned during the Normandy invasion. He was a retired craneman from US Steel, Edgar Thomson Works in Braddock. George was an avid bowler and also enjoyed observing bowling at Great Valley Lanes. He also could be seen spending time at Mathey's Gas Station in Turtle Creek. Friends welcome Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, TURTLE CREEK / MONROEVILLE CHAPEL, 1111 Monroeville Ave. at James St., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350 and where a Blessing Service will be held at 12 noon. George will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Good Shepherd Cemetery.
